Pro-Musica Chamber Music Festival

El Paso Pro-Musica is devoted to making the art of chamber music available to our community by bringing world-renowned artists to delight and educate audiences.

Texas vs. The Nation

Players from across the state in an all-Texas team go against the Nation team, consisting of seniors from colleges across the United States with no Texas ties.

El Paso Marathon

Staged in historic downtown El Paso and continuing thru the neighborhoods of Kern Place through portions of the Upper Valley alongside the Rio Grande and the Mexican Border, the Annual Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon and Good Time Stores Half Marathon tours through a challenging El Paso route. With perfect spring running weather and excitement every mile, this marathon is not be missed!

Since its modest beginning at the Chamizal National Memorial in the spring of 1976, the Siglo de Oro Spanish Drama Festival has attained an international reputation for presenting quality presentations from Spain's Golden Age, in both English and Spanish, by theatrical groups from all over the world.

Dia de los Niños, Dia de los Libros
April
The El Paso Public Library, Parks and Recreation and hundreds of other local organizations hold an annual celebration of children and literacy. The entire community comes together at a local park to take part in free, fun and educational activities for the whole family. The event draws thousands of participants each year. Some of the activities include a parade and healthy heart walk, music and performance stage and a free book giveaway. Organizers have given away more than 150,000 books to children since the event began in 1997.

First Thanksgiving Celebration
April
The historical reenactment presents the arrival of the first Spanish settlers in this area in April 1598. A company of costumed actors and dancers portray the native American and Spaniards, who give thanks and celebrate after their perilous crossing of the Chihuahuan desert and arrival at the banks of the Rio Grande.

Armed Forces Day
May
Free and open to the public, this event expects over 10,000 attendees. A wonderful event that reaches out to the military community directly.

KLAQ International Balloonfest
May
The annual festival. More than 75 hot-air balloons are expected for the festival. The event also includes balloon rides, water rides, vendors and live concerts nightly.

Victorian Spring Tea

Celebrate the spring with a formal, seated tea. This year’s theme is the Kentucky Derby horse race. There are two seatings: 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Reservations required.

Boo at the Zoo

Thousands of children attended the Boo at the Zoo event where many dressed up like their favorite animal. Children, along with their parents, enjoyed candy stations, costume contests, Dracula's Disco, bowling and many other fun activities.

Celebration of Our Mountains

A month-long festival of events to encourage appreciation of the El Paso region’s environment. The celebration includes hikes, field trips, driving tours, nature walks, bicycle rides and other activities are offered to the public. Most events are free.

Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Two Sister Cities – Together Forever

Día de los Muertos Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a holiday celebrated in many parts of the world, typically from October 31 to November 2. In Mexico, where the holiday originated, the holiday has ancient Aztec and Mesoamerican roots and is a national holiday. Día de los Muertos is also celebrated to a lesser extent in other Latin American countries. For example, it is a public holiday in Brazil, where many Brazilians celebrate it by visiting cemeteries and churches. The holiday is also observed in the Philippines. Observance of the holiday has spread to Mexican-American communities in the United States where, in some locations, the traditions are being extended. Similarly-themed celebrations also appear in some Asian and African cultures.

Season of Lights
November
Annual lighting of the UTEP holiday lights begins in early December. The 220,000 plus lights stay lit each night through January.

Brut Sun Bowl and Fan Fiesta
December
The Brut Sun Bowl football game is the nation's second oldest bowl game. The Sun Bowl is known for its friendly hospitality, not only from volunteers and El Paso citizens as well. Attend many activities surrounding game week, including the Helen Of Troy Brut Sun Bowl Football Game, the Fan Fiesta, the State Farm Sun Bowl Basketball Tournament and the Rotary Sun Bowl Luncheon.

San Jacinto Plaza Christmas Tree Lighting
December
The annual "Christmas in Lights" continues the holiday tradition of the plaza's spectacular Christmas tree and displays. Entertainment begins in the early afternoon with the lighting at dusk, followed by the Holiday Lights Parade.
